MOLANA MUHAMMAD FAZIL DURKANI
Molana Muhammad Fazil Dusrkani was born in the home of Mr. Durkhan ismailzai Raisani tribe in 1830 at village durkhan near Dhadar. The village is named on his father’s name i-e Durkhan. When British subjugated the Kalat state in 1839 Muhammad Fazil was 9 years old at that time. Khan Mehrab khan was martyred by the Britain and Shah Nawas was enthroned. This act of Britains was not liked by Muhammad Fazil. In reaction he alongwith other young men attacked on a police check post of Britain forces. In which he did not succeed due to the lack of experience of war.
By nature he was a humble, religious and kind hearted person. He was fond of serving humanity. He was struggling to serve the people according to his capacity but still he had nothing to provide them. He thought to educate the people and declared it mandatory for human development. For this purpose he went to Jacobabad. He got admission in the Madrassa of Molana Abdul Ghafoor Hamayouni in the nearby town of Hamayoun. He got himself fully equipped with religious education within 10 to 12 years as he was a hardworker. After having received the degree he returned to his native town Durkhan with a new spirit of serving his people.
The English people not only kept their subjugation but were trying to convert the people of Balochistan to Christianity. Their missionaries started preaching Christianity. Molana Muhammad Fazil apprehended the nefarious designs of the Christian missionaries. Molana Fazil established a madrassa (Maktabba Durkhani in 1883 A.D) at his native town Durkhan to expend the light of religious education in his people. In this way he succeeded to check the negative impact of Christian missionaries. He not only taught Islamic education in the madrassa but also wrote and published preaching literatures. His literary works brought a great change in the people of his territory. They became aware of the teachings of Islam. He educated a number of individuals from his madrassa. Among his pupils, Haji Nabo jan Kalandrani, Molana Abdul Majeed Chotoi, Molvi Abdul Hai, and his student Molana Muhammad Umar Dinpoori are prominent. Molana Fazil durkhani wrote a book of Brahui etymology and syntax that is extinct now. Molana Durkhani devoted his entire life for the expansion of Islamic education against Christianity. But Almighty ALLAH gave him success in his mission. This kind religious scholar passed away from this mortal world in 1887. After his death the institution got thousands of books published. In this way Christian missionaries felt dejected and stoped their mission.
