MAKTHABA -i -DURKHANI
Makthaba -i-Durkhani was a religious institution ,which was established by Moulana Muhammad Fazil Durkani in 1883 A.D. Durkhan is a village of Ismaelzi Riasani tribe of District kachi, which is located at distance of 17 Kilometers from the town of Dhadar, which is District Headquarter of District kachi. Moulana Muhammad Fazil got and completed his religious education from Madrassa (Religious Institution of Muslims) of Moulana Abdul Ghafoor Hamayuni in District Jacobabad Sind.
Maktaba Durkani played a pivotal role to promote the Brahui Language & Literature during 1883 to 1948,which is called “ Durkhani Adab” and may be declared as the golden era of Brahui Language & literature. Basically it was a religious movement to protect the faith of the Muslims of Balochistan in order to counter the Christian missionary activities of Britishers.
Following are the main achievements of the Makthaba-i-Durkhani, which caused the the progress of the Brahui Language & Literature:
- More than one thousand books and pamphlets were written and circulated by the religious scholars of Makthaba-i-Durkhani.
- Holy Quran was translated into Brahui by Allama Muhammad Umer Dinpuri and published in 1916,which made it easier to understand the commandments of Holy Quran for Brahui Speaking People of subcontinent.
- Brahui was declared first time in the history as the Language of instructions and teaching otherwise Persian was official language of Kalat State as well as Mughals of Subcontinent. Resultantly Brahui language got opportunities to be promoted as a full fledged language..
- This Institution produced many renowned scholars which translated literatures from other languages into Brahui and prepared the field for creative work in Brahui Language.
